In the hands of a caring God

‘Live fearlessly’ — this is what a true Christian is urged to experience in life. In a world of anxiety, stress and distress we hardly see people who manage to go through life without apparently worrying about anything. Jesus Christ says in John 16:33 “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world”. We as the believers are supposed to face our fears with optimistic faith in the Lord and realize that there is a limit to the worst that evil can do to us. Luke.12:7 says “Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid, you are worth more than many sparrows”.

Though these verses are particularly addressed to people who are facing or likely to be facing persecutions, Jesus affirms them that He will stand by those who remain faithful, come what may, Christ encourages us to face whatever it is that we fear most, in the confidence that we are held in the strong hands of a loving God. In the midst of problems Jesus brings peace.

He gives us the peace of conquest. Peace — the serenity of mind to confront evil and establish justice. Real peace is disciplining people in the Christ-centered values of life. God’s style of disciplining is not smothering or restrictive. It is Liberating. Our ministry to the people of God must enable them to grow and change, and become all that God has called them to be. Making one’s allegiance first be to Christ and not to the worldly things. “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all its righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you” Matt.6:33.
